CML Launches “Imagine Your Story. Read!” in Partnership with Summer of Imagination

July 11, 2014

The beginning of the summer is an exciting time for our friends at Columbus Metropolitan Library because it marks the start of their #1 outreach program, the Summer Reading Club. Once again, we’ve teamed up with CML to help promote reading and education throughout the community. We were excited to unveil the branding for 2014 Summer Reading Club, as it helps children discover what reading can truly be — fun, adventurous, and exciting! CML introduced this summer’s theme “Imagine Your Story. Read!” at their successful launch on May 31st.

Looking to engage kindergarteners through 6th graders, we helped develop a name and brand strategy (logo/brand elements) that grants children the ability to see a world from their perspective, and to imagine any experience through the power of reading. Depicted through original illustration, a young boy explores his story and inspires other friends in the Summer Reading Club to imagine their own world and believe that anything is within reach.

This year was especially important because CML partnered with other institutions in the Columbus community to inspire learning and fun in families throughout Central Ohio. Joining Columbus Museum of Art, COSI and Franklin Park Conservatory, CML helped launch the Summer of Imagination, a program unlike any other that allows families to explore, be creative, and have fun at unique features and events hosted throughout Columbus all summer.

CML and its partners worked with Origo to create branding for Summer of Imagination, keeping the same themes of imagination, adventure, exploration and fun as we had developed for the Imagine Your Story brand. With this in mind, we developed the theme and created a logo that highlighted the unique features and events offered by each institution, still reflecting the overall collaborative nature of the program.

We applied the branding to a fun, interactive map to indicate where families can find Summer of Imagination-themed activities. Visiting each location qualifies participants to enter for a prize at the end of the summer. You and your family can find the Summer of Imagination map in the June/July issue of Columbus Parent.

Through these new experiences and exciting partnerships, CML is bringing education and reading to the children and families of Central Ohio, making a lasting impact on the community. Make sure to come out to any one of the Summer of Imagination events or visit one of CML’s 21 branches to see how your family can sign up for the Summer Reading Club and make 2014 a summer to remember.
