For the past 5 years, Origo Branding Company has been chosen as the Columbus Metropolitan Library’s agency of choice to partner for its Summer Reading Club campaign. Since our initial partnership with CML, the club has experienced a record-breaking participant numbers, with figures above 100,000.
The 2011 campaign is exciting. The theme is “Be a Hero. Read.” and represents how reading can turn dreams into reality, while celebrating the everyday heroes of our community. In this year’s campaign, Origo and CML introduced a new champion and hero of the community—Captain Read!
Along with the complete branding of the campaign (including the overarching theme, name, tagline and logo), Origo helped create an animated promotion and 4 webisodes, featuring Captain Read helping kids and teens achieve their goals through the power of reading. Check out Episode 4 below.
Also featured in this year’s campaign are videos of different community heroes from around Columbus, sharing books that helped them achieve their goals. Featured heroes include:
- Mayor Mike Coleman (the Hardy Boys series)
- Mikaela Hunt – NBC4 (Little House on the Prairie)
- William Hesmer – Goalkeeper for the Columbus Crew (Oh, the Places You’ll Go)
- Jeni Britton Bauer – Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream (King Arthur)
- Jack Hanna – Columbus Zoo (Left to Tell)
And coming soon to the “hero” videos will be Origo’s own Account Manager, Martim Thomaz, revealing his favorite book, Around the World in 80 Days.
Launched last Saturday at CML’s Main Branch in Downtown Columbus, the spirits were high as Captain Read swooped in with a triumphant applause from the crowd.
So, come by and support one of Columbus’ proudest institutions and the nation’s #1-rated library at this year’s Summer Reading Club — “Be a Hero. Read.”
