Since our initial partnership with CML, we have developed the brand for their Summer Reading Club for 8 years. In 2011, the brand featured the theme of “Be a Hero. Read.” representing the power of reading in children’s aspirations. The character of Captain Read was created to embody the notion of the hero whose powers stem from reading books. The campaign was matched with characters from the community who kids can view as heroes and aspire to be when they are older. Origo also helped in the CML's social media strategy, developing animated webisodes of Captain Read helping kids through the power of reading. The library brought in community heroes such as Jack Hanna and the mayor to speak to their favorite books that helped them be "heroes." All together, this made an exceptional summer for the library and Central Ohio community, generating a record-breaking number of 89,000 participants.
